The Official Draw for the 2023 European Games Boxing took place today, June 22, at the COS Zakopane Hall in Zakopane (POL). Two Olympic Champions will be boxing in the very first two bouts of the Tournament tomorrow, June 23.
Starting tomorrow, June 23, and continuing until July 2, a total of 319 boxers from 42 National Olympic Committees and the Refugee Olympic Team will compete in 13 weight categories, vying for one of the 44 Paris 2024 qualification slots to be awarded at the III European Games. The tournament will be held at the Nowy Targ Arena, with two daily sessions scheduled from June 23 to June 30 (with a day off on June 29), and one daily session on July 1 and 2.
Two Olympic champions will take center stage in the opening bouts of the tournament tomorrow (June 23). In Ring A, Kellie Harrington from Ireland, a Tokyo 2020 Olympic Champion, will face off against Mirolava Jedinakova from Slovakia in the Women’s 60kg event at 13:00 CET. Simultaneously, in the same category but on Ring B, Estelle Mosseley of France, the Rio 2016 Olympic Champion, will go head-to-head with Teresa Benedict Makinen from Finland. A total of 37 bouts will be held throughout the day across both rings and two sessions.
The Official Draw followed the Technical Meeting, presented by the 2023 European Games Boxing Competition Manager, Pawel Grabowski, the Chair of the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU), Alex MCLIN, and the competition’s Technical Delegate, Marina Ni.
