In another match, Joana NWAMERUE (BUL) faced off against Yuliannys ALVAREZ (VEN), with the Venezuelan boxer proving too strong for her opponent, leading the referee to stop the contest in round two.
Capo Verde boxing star Ivanusa MOREIRA, also known as Nancy Moreira, delivered a dominant performance against Ugandan Emily TINAH NAKALEMA, the bronze medalist at the 2020 African Olympic Boxing Qualifier. Moreira left no chances for her opponent, securing a sharp 5:0 victory.
Advancing in the tournament, Stefanie VON BERGE (GER) and Grainne WALSH (IRL) engaged in a fierce battle, with Von Berge starting strong but Walsh fighting back to secure a 3:2 split decision victory.
The 2022 Asian Games bronze medalist, Nien Chin CHEN (TPE), convincingly won her match in the round-of-32 phase of the Women’s 66kg event, striking Slovakia’s young talent Jessica TRIEBELOVA towards the end to earn maximum points and a 5-0 win.
The 23-year-old from Morocco, Saida LAHMIDI, showcased her determination to advance in the tournament today in the match against Finland’s Krista KOVALAINEN. Lahmidi took the lead in the first two rounds through an attacking strategy and heavy blows. In the third round, KOVALAINEN fought back, but her effort wasn’t enough to overcome her opponent, who clinched a 3:2 split decision victory.
In the Men’s 80kg division, Irish boxer Kelyn CASSIDY knocked out his opponent from Guatemala, Wyatt TRUJILLO. CASSIDY showed no mercy, outboxing his opponent with an impressive punch in the face that sent TRUJILLO to the canvas in the first round.
Andrej CSEMEZ (SVK) faced off against the American Robby GONZALES.
