TECHNICAL MEETING AND OFFICIAL DRAW: 578 BOXERS COMPETING AT THE 2ND WORLD QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT

Today, May 23, the Technical Meeting and Official Draw for the 2nd World Qualification Tournament took place at the the Alexander Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Starting tomorrow, May 24, and continuing until June 2, a total of 578 boxers from 132 National Olympic Committees and the Boxing Refugee Team, will compete in 13 weight categories. Athletes are vying for one of the 51 Olympic quota places up for grab, 23 for women and 28 for men, at this crucial event held in the capital of Thailand. This tournament is the final opportunity for boxers to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. All bouts will take place at the Indoor Stadium Huamark, with two daily sessions scheduled at 13:00 and 18:30 (Bangkok local time).

The Official Draw followed the Technical Meeting and was presented by the Head of PBU Rodrigo GARCIA, PBU Head of Boxing Operations Breno PONTES, the competition’s Technical Delegate Anna LAUKKANEN, and Event Director Kraitach KAEWKATE.

This tournament is the seventh and final stage of the Boxing Road to Paris qualification pathway, which includes five continental tournaments and two world qualifiers. In total, 248 Olympic quota places are available across 13 weight categories, equally divided between men and women, offering boxers a chance to achieve their Olympic dreams.
