The official lighting of the torch marked the beginning of the III European Games at Krakow’s Henryk Reyman Stadium. The grand opening ceremony on June 21 showcased a remarkable fusion of sports and artistry, welcoming 7,000 athletes who will compete in 29 sports across thirteen cities in southern Poland.
The Boxing Tournament, which is conducted under the supervision of the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU), will take place at the Nowy Targ Arena. A total of 319 boxers (193 men and 126 women) from 42 countries, and the Refugee Olympic Team, will compete in 13 weight categories from June 23 to July 2.
With 44 Paris 2024 Quota Places at stake (22 men, 22 women), the tournament holds significant importance, offering a chance to secure a participation slot for the Games out of the total 248 available. Following this event, the Boxing Road to Paris qualification pathway will continue with four more continental qualifiers in 2023 and two ad-hoc world qualifiers in the first and second quarters of 2024 (refer to the Qualification System for further details).
The boxing action at the European Games begins tomorrow, with the first bout scheduled for 13:00 CET. From June 23 to June 30 (with a break on June 29), two sessions will be held daily at 13:00 and 18:00, respectively. The final stage of the Tournament on July 1 and 2 will feature a single session per day, starting at 18:00 and 13:00, respectively.
