Explosive Night of Boxing at the III European Games: Champions Emerge in Thrilling Bouts

The III European Games Boxing Tournament in Nowy Targ, Poland, continued with a riveting evening session featuring 19 preliminary matches in the Women’s 75kg and Men’s 63.5kg, 71kg, and +92kg categories. The arena was filled with anticipation as the athletes showcased their skills, delivering excellent performances.

In the Women’s 75kg category, the stage was set for fierce competition. Davina-Myrha Michel from France emerged victorious with a captivating split decision win (3:2) over Kerry Susan Davis from Great Britain. Meanwhile, the home crowd erupted with excitement as Poland’s Elzbieta Wojcik capitalized on the electric atmosphere, delivering a masterful display of speed and precision. She claimed a well-deserved 4:1 victory on points against Norway’s Sunniva Hofstad.

Representing the European Refugee Team, Cindy Winner Djankeu Ngamba displayed remarkable skill and determination, securing a unanimous decision win over Ani Hovsepyan from Armenia in the same Women’s 75kg division. This marked the first bout and the first victory of an European Refugee Team member in this boxing tournament.

In the Men’s 63.5kg category, the action was intense. Radoslav Simeon Rosenov from Bulgaria showcased his prowess, claiming a resounding unanimous decision victory over Reese Lynch from Great Britain. In a closely contested match, Alexandru Paraschiv from Moldova emerged triumphant with a split decision win (3:2) over Aleksej Vitorov Sendrik from Serbia. Additionally, Richard Kovacs from Hungary delivered a scintillating performance, outscoring Narek Hovhannisyan from Armenia with a commanding 4:1 score.

The Men’s 71kg category witnessed thrilling bouts and exceptional performances. Salvatore Cavallaro from Italy, cousin of the homonymous Salvatore Cavallaro who triumphed in the Men’s 80kg event the previous day, showcased his skills in a close Round-of-32 bout against Ireland’s Dean Walsh. In a hard-fought contest, Cavallaro emerged as the victor, securing a narrow 3:2 win. Meanwhile, Aleksandr Trofimcuk from Lithuania claimed a razor-thin edge victory (4:1) over Esad Avdic from Austria. Alban Beqiri from Albania displayed his strength and technique, prevailing over Dejan Leburic from Slovenia with a notable 4:1 score. Danish boxer Nikolai Terteryan dominated his bout against Diogo Marcelino Da Silva from Portugal, earning a unanimous decision win with several impressive 10/8 decisions in his scorecard.

In the Men’s +92kg category, another Italian athlete, Diego Lenzi, secured a commanding unanimous decision victory over Juraj Soldo from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Meanwhile, Lithuania’s Jonas Jazevicius caused an upset, earning a hard-fought split decision win (4:1) against Poland’s Radoslaw Kawczak.

Adding to the excitement, Great Britain’s Delicious Justin Orie exhibited his skills, outpointing Marko Milun from Croatia with a convincing 4:0 score in the same Men’s +92kg division. In the final match of the day, Davit Chaloyan from Armenia left little chance for Vladan Babic from Serbia, dominating the entire bout with his skills and utilizing his longer reach to secure a unanimous decision victory.

The III European Games Boxing Tournament, which also serves as a Boxing Road to Paris qualifier with 44 Olympic slots at stake, will continue tomorrow, June 26.
