Supporting you on your Boxing Road to Tokyo

In the wake of AIBA’s IOC recognition suspension, an Olympic Boxing Task Force (BTF) has been set up to help organise the sports qualification for, and tournament at, the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. In the lead-up to Tokyo 2020, Athlete365 will become the key digital location for boxers to find information about the Games.

In Your Corner is the brand new section of Athlete365 which is here to support you on your journey. Not only will In Your Corner provide the latest updates on Tokyo 2020 and beyond, but it will also be the go-to place for any other resources you need to help further your sporting career. From the format of the qualification tournament, to becoming an Athlete Ambassador, Athlete365 will have everything you need to know.

  • Following the creation of the Olympic Boxing Task Force, Athlete365 will be taking on a more active role in supporting boxers.
  • Athlete365 is dedicating a section of its site to boxing information ahead of the Games, called In Your Corner.
  • We will provide news and resources on In Your Corner to support you on your journey to Tokyo 2020.

Why this is happening

In June 2019, the International Boxing Association (AIBA), had its IOC recognition suspended and is therefore no longer responsible for organisation of the sports participation at Tokyo 2020.

To fill the subsequent gap in communications, Athlete365 will dedicate a new section of its site to helping boxers prepare for the Games next year, with all the must-know information available in one place.

What is Athlete365?

Athlete365 is a brand that unites all of the IOC’s athlete-focused communications, designed to help you on every step of your sporting journey. We provide content, tools and resources, covering six themes related to key aspects of your career both on and off the field: voice, career, finance, performance, well-being and integrity.

What In Your Corner will provide

Operating within the Olympic Movement, and therefore up-to-date on all the latest developments with the BTF, In Your Corner will provide you with all the essential information ahead of the Games. This will include everything from how the qualification tournaments will be structured, to the format of the Olympic events, and much more.

Athlete365 aims to make the road to Tokyo and the tournament next year run as smoothly as possible by answering all any questions that come to mind, and setting out the qualification process in simple, easy to understand terms.

Resources and funding

As we approach the Games, In Your Corner will keep you updated with the latest developments, including the appointment of Athlete Ambassadors. These 10 Ambassadors will be active boxers and act as a link between the athletes and the BTF, ensuring that the preparation ahead of Tokyo 2020 is going smoothly, and that you feel suitably supported.

Olympic Solidarity funding is also available for boxers and can be applied for directly through your National Olympic Committee (NOC). All NOCs can benefit from Olympic Solidarity support for their boxers, as can athletes from other sports preparing and attempting to qualify for Tokyo 2020. Olympic Solidarity funding to athletes must not pass through the National Boxing Federations. This means that NOCs are able to assist you, the boxing athletes, exclusively through direct financial contributions or through the Olympic Solidarity office in Lausanne.

To find out more about the programme and your NOC contact, please visit our Olympic Solidarity home page.
