The Technical Meeting and the Official Draw for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games took place today, October 18, at the official Teams Hotel Marina Las Condes.
Commencing from October 19 and until October 28, an outstanding roster of 174 boxers from 26 National Olympic Committees and an Independent Team will engage in fierce competition across 13 weight categories. They will vie for one of the highly coveted 30 Paris 2024 qualification slots, at stake at the 19th Pan American Games. The boxing tournament will take place at the Centro de Entrenamiento Olímpico, featuring two daily sessions at 11:00 and 17:00 (Santiago local time). An exception to this schedule will be observed on October 20, when only the morning session is planned.
The Official Draw followed the Technical Meeting, presented by the the Head of PBU Rodrigo Garcia, the PBU Head of Boxing Operations Breno Pontes, and the competition’s Technical Delegate, Liang Yuan.
Marking the fourth leg of the Boxing Road to Paris qualification series, this Santiago 2023 Pan American Games constitutes a significant juncture in the journey towards the Paris Olympics in 2024. This pathway includes five continental tournaments and two world qualifiers. Following the conclusion of the Pan American Games, attention will turn to the Pacific Games, set to take place from November 27 to December 2. Looking forward to 2024, the road to the Olympics will culminate in two World Qualifiers scheduled to be held in Busto Arsizio, Italy, and Bangkok, Thailand, in March and May, respectively.
