Following the 24 June 2022 decision by the IOC Executive Board (EB) not to let the International Boxing Association (IBA) run the qualification tournaments and competition at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, the IOC EB decided on 5 December 2022 to create an ad-hoc unit, named the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit (PBU), with the mandate to organise and ensure the boxing qualification tournaments and competition at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
