The boxing world is gearing up for an exciting event as the second World Qualification Tournament is about to commence. From May 24 to June 2, 2024, the bustling city of Bangkok, Thailand, will host the last world qualifier.
The Indoor Stadium Huamark will be the prestigious venue for the final phase of the Boxing Road to Paris 2024 qualification series. This tournament will see more than 600 boxers from 133 National Olympic Committees and the Boxing Refugee Team. Their goal: to secure one of the 51 remaining quota places for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, 23 for women and 28 for men. The official number of participants will be confirmed following the Sport Entries Check on May 23.
This event is part of the pathway of seven qualification tournaments, taking place from June 2023 to June 2024. Five continental qualification tournaments in 2023 have been followed by two world qualification tournaments in the early months of 2024. In total, 248 quota places, equally divided between men and women, are up for grabs across 13 weight categories, providing boxers with the opportunity to transform their Olympic dream into reality.
At the Indoor Stadium Huamark, boxers will compete in 13 weight categories, seven for men and six for women, as in the previous qualifiers. This competition promises to be a thrilling showcase of skill and determination as athletes vie for their place on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
